This error message indicates that your device is not able to connect to a cellular network. If your device is in a remote area or a location where cell coverage is weak, this can be common.
Don't worry - while this message is displayed, your tracker should be storing its GPS coordinates and once it reconnects to a cellular network, all the locations its been to will appear on your map.
However, if your device has been powered down, it will not be able to connect to a cellular network or store GPS coordinates.
If you know your device has power and is in a location where cell coverage is strong, read on the learn how to solve this issue!
How do we solve this issue?
There are three steps to resolving a cell connectivity issue:
- Reboot the Device
- Take the device for a 10-15 minute long trip
- If it still doesn't connect, remove and re-insert the SIM card.
Reboot the Device
Take The Device For a 10-15 Minute Long Trip
After rebooting the unit, please take the device for a 10-15 minute long trip in an area where cell coverage is strong. While on the trip, you'll want to pay special attention to the green CEL light:
This will always flash - a quick flash (multiple times a second) means you have no cell coverage. A slow blink (once every 2-3 seconds) means you have a strong cell signal. If your device still doesn't connect after this trip, read on for the final troubleshooting step.
Remove & Re-Insert the SIM Card
Step 1: Find the SIM card slot on the right side of the GL300.
Step 2: Remove the two screws on both ends, unlocking the SIM card tray. Set the screws aside in a secure place.
Step 3: Once the screws are removed, remove the SIM card tray from the GL300.
Step 4: Leave the SIM card out for at least one minute.
Step 5: Reinsert the SIM card tray into the GL300. The tray will need to be properly oriented when inserted. The bottom of the SIM card logo will match the notch in the GL300 case.
Step 6: Replace the two screws on both ends of the tray to secure it in place.
Step 7: Once finished, turn on the tracker using the power button located on the top of the tracker. When your tracker has connected to a cellular network, the green LED light should blink about once every 3 seconds. Click here for more information on the lights.
