We are happy to introduce the new Tracker Positions report with our most recent update. The Tracker Positions report is a filterable, clickable report showing you all the data points collected by your GPS trackers.
How can I access the Tracker Positions report?
To access the new report, simply click the settings menu in the upper left corner and select reports. Then on the following page click the “Tracker Positions” report.
What does the Tracker Position report show?
The report will display all the collected data points from your trackers. The data is displayed as single pings rather than as a part of a trip or a stop. This lets you see the full historical data from your tracker, unfiltered. It shows the time and date of each ping as well as the GPS date and time. These values differ as the GPS date and time is the data direct from the device, when it made the connection to the satellite network, whereas the date and time is when that data was received and displayed by our servers. Seeing both sets of data is useful in diagnosing if your tracker is having connectivity issues. If the GPS date and time is separated by more than a minute or so from the non-GPS date and time it may indicate that the unit is having issues communicating with our servers.
We can also see the coordinates and address listed in the report for each individual ping. This represents the trackers location at the moment of that individual ping. These two data points are clickable. Clicking on them will bring up a map displaying the location of that ping. This can be extremely useful in keeping tabs on the tracker as well as confirming the device accuracy.
The final bit of data in the Tracker Position report is the speed and odometer reading recorded by the tracker at the time of that ping. When the tracker is stationary, these two numbers will stay constant, but when the ping occurs while the tracker is moving the speed will be recorded and the odometer will add the mileage since the previous ping. This can give you some advanced data points about a specific vehicle or even driving habits easily on one page.
This report has been added to up the visibility into all the data collected by your trackers. You can now deep dive into all the data points instead of having them divided up by individual events. Our Event Tiles will still create the tailored reporting but the raw data is now at your fingertips as well.
