With the Version 1.9 update, several new features were added to the Spytec GPS mobile app for Android and iOS. This is an overview guide to navigating the key features of the mobile app. (Note: screenshots in this article come from both Android and iOS versions of the mobile app)
The first thing we want to talk about is the home screen. The main map will be nearly identical to how it appears in the web app, giving you the ability to move through the map, see all of your trackers, and manually zoom in for greater detail.
With this update, you can change map settings right from the home screen. The icon in the top right corner of the screen is the layers button. Clicking on the icon gives you several options that change the way the map looks on the mobile app. You can adjust the map theme between Light, Dark, and Satellite. You can also enable boundaries and recent activities to appear on the map.
The recent activities option allows you to see all trips and stops for the current day. (Note: Current day does not mean the last 24 hours. Recent activities means the calendar day.) The activities will appear on the map with the line color matching the tracker icon. Arrows indicate the direction the tracker was moving in.
When you click the tracker icon from the main map, you will be put into follow mode and the map will zoom into and lock onto the selected tracker.
You will also get a pop-up showing our contextual tracker cards. These cards show the current status and location of your tracker, nearby businesses and landmarks, as well as an alternate map style. All this info is bundled into an easy-to-read card.
You also have the option to click into a filtered activity report and a filtered alerts report. This will show you all of the trips, stops, and triggered alerts for that particular tracker.
The last feature we want to mention is the new tracker list. To access, click the second icon down in the upper right corner. This will take you to a list view of all of your tracker cards. It will display the most recent location and current status as well as a zoomed-in map view of each tracker. Clicking on the card will put you into follow mode with that particular tracker.
This has been an overview of some of the great features of the Spytec GPS mobile application for Android and iOS. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with feedback, as we are always improving the platform to meet your needs.
