Time Machine is a feature on the Spytec GPS mobile app that allows you to travel back in time and follow your tracker's routes throughout a 24-hour period of time.
💡 Please note: This feature is currently only available on the Spytec GPS mobile app and not on the desktop version. Click here to download the app onto your mobile device.
How Do I Access Time Machine?
Main Menu:
Step 1. Log into your account on the mobile app.
Step 2. Tap on Time Machine from the menu listed on the bottom. You'll be brought to the main page of the Time Machine feature, where you'll select your settings to travel back in time.
Using Time Machine
Step 1. From the Time Machine menu, choose the date, time frame (up to 24 hours), and select the tracker(s) you would like to review. Tap 'Go back in time' to apply the filters.
Please note: Tracking data is available on the platform for up to 90 days. Tracking activity older than 90 days is available upon request by contacting our support team.
Step 2. Your trackers will be listed on the map, along with the menu at the bottom of the screen. To review activity from a specific tracker, tap the tracker's icon.
Step 3: After selecting a specific tracker, you can scroll along the timeline at the bottom of the screen to move the tracker along the route on the map.
As your tracker moves along the route, the line will become highlighted as it moves forward in time. The grayed line ahead of the tracker indicates the future route of the tracker.
Step 4: Each dot on the tracking line indicates a 'ping' from the tracker—an instance of the tracker communicating with the system at a certain location and point in time. Each ping aligns with the tracking timeline on the bottom of the screen, where you can find detailed information from that moment, such as the address, time, speed at which the tracker was moving, nearby places, and more. Insights from each ping is called a Position Snapshot. Click here to learn more about the Position Snapshot.

Step 5: Camera modes - There are two different points of view when following your tracker(s) on the map: route mode and tracker mode. Choose which mode in which you view your tracker(s) by tapping the map mode icon in the upper right, under the top bar.
- Route mode - The map will show a zoomed-out view of the entire route selected. As you scroll through the selected timeframe, the tracker will move but the map will stay stationary.
- Tracker Mode - The map will follow a specific tracker or the trackers selected. You'll see the map zoom in and move with the trackers as you scroll through the selected timeframe.
In both modes, you can also explore the map on your own by dragging the map to move and pinching the screen to zoom in and out. To take the map out of tracker mode, tap the icon in the upper right, under the top bar.
Step 8: To edit or change your search, click on the Filter icon in the top bar, on the right. You can change the date, time, and trackers you wish to view.
Continue by scrolling down to select the option to show any alerts that were triggered while the tracker was traveling. You can also change your map overlays such as showing boundaries you have created and changing the map style.
Hit 'Apply Filters' to apply the new settings.

Position Snapshot
Tapping on a 'ping' from the timeline located at the bottom of the screen will pull up the Position Snapshot, which shows the information that was recorded at that moment in time.
On the Position Snapshot, you will see a screenshot from the map, the date and time, the speed of the tracker, the battery life, and the weather in the area at the time of the ping.
If any alerts were triggered at the time of the ping, this will be shown in the snapshot as well.

Getting Directions: The Position Snapshot also provides opportunities to get directions to the location of the tracker. Tap 'Get Directions' and you'll be taken to either Apple or Google Maps, depending on the device you are using.
Sharing Information: To share information from the Position Snapshot, tap the arrow below the tracker information and select the method through which you wish to share the information.
Nearby Places: Scroll down to the bottom of the Position Snapshot to find nearby places in the area of the ping's location. Tap on a place to pull up the website of the business or location in Google.
