What's Happening
As mobile carriers adopt 5G service across the globe, older services such as 2G & 3G are being shut down to free up resources and infrastructure. This transition allows mobile carriers to fully focus on supporting and maintaining exceptionally fast connection speeds and strong cellular connections for their users.
- 3G Networks were sunset in February of 2022
- 2G Networks are being sunset in December of 2022
What This Means for Spytec GPS Customers
Our GPS trackers require the use of cellular networks to transmit location data to our servers. As 2G & 3G networks are phased out, any trackers that rely on these networks will no longer function. There are a few legacy-model Spytec GPS trackers that will be impacted by these changes to global cellular networks.
If you aren't sure if you'll be impacted or simply have questions about this process, please contact our team by sending an email to support@spytec.com, and we'll follow up right away.
